Our Mothers do a lot of cooking for us throughout the year, this year surprise her with a homemade brunch that you put together yourself. This menu is easy, but delicious and she is sure to be happy on Mother's Day this year.

Cinnamon Raisin French Toast

Making french toast is actually fairly simple.  To make french toast you will want 1-3 pieces of nice bread per person. To make this simple Cinnamon Raisin French Toast, instead of using a nice white or crusty bread, use cinnamon raisin bread.

For every 2 slices of bread you will need:
1/3 cup milk
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt

Whisk together the milk, eggs and vanilla in a pie plate or shallow bowl. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and soak, turning once or twice until the bread is saturated, but not falling apart.

Heat a teaspoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. When the butter is hot add the egg-soaked bread to the skillet. Cook, turning once, until both sides are golden brown.

Serve your Mom this delicious breakfast with warmed maple syrup and half of a grapefruit or some other fresh fruit. You can even pair it with some freshly squeezed orange juice.

Fresh Orange Juice

Chilled fresh orange juice served in a champagne flute makes your Mother's Day brunch appear that much more special. If you have a juicer you can make your juice quickly and easily, or you can squeeze by hand if you enjoy the challenge. Make sure you have two oranges per person. However, if you are short on time you can purchase pre-squeezed orange juice at this store, although not as fresh it is still a wonderful accompaniment to the brunch.
