Tofu Skewers with Lemon and Black Pepper

Tofu Skewers with Lemon and Black Pepper


  • 2 packages firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ground pepper


Start by cutting the tofu into 1-2 inch cubes. Next you will need to press the tofu to remove the excess moisture, which makes it easier to cook. To press, line a baking sheet with paper towels, then place the tofu on top of the paper towels and cover with another layer of paper towels. Put another baking sheet on top of the tofu and weight it down with a large plate and heavy objects on top. Allow the tofu to be pressed for 15 to 20 minutes.

As the tofu is pressing mix the soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and ground pepper. When the tofu is done pressing marinate the tofu in the soy sauce for about 5 minutes. While the tofu is marinating prep the grill and skewers. You want the grill to be fairly hot so you can get some nice grill marks. When the tofu is done marinating put the cubes onto skewers, then place them on the grill. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side. Watch carefully to make sure the skewers don't burn. As you turn the skewers you will want to baste with the remaining marinade. Serve hot with skewered or grilled vegetables.
