Warm-up with this delicious hot spiced cider.
Hot Spiced Cider
- Serves: 8
- Complexity: very easy
- 1 gallon apple cider, as fresh as possible
- 1/8 to 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional)
- 4 cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving
- 8 whole allspice
- 5 whole cloves
- Fresh ginger piece (1/2 inch approx.)
In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients, except the extra cinnamon sticks. Heat the cider to a simmer and cook over low for 15 to 20 minutes until the flavors have combined. Strain out all of the spices and pour the cider into a heat safe punch bowl. Serve warm and place a cinnamon stick in each cup of cider (optional).
